The Desk as Portrait

Desks are a common presence in our lives, yet each of us engages with them differently. For some, the desk becomes a central hub—an anchor point around which daily life revolves. For others, it’s a more passive space, used sparingly or even neglected, eventually turning into a catch-all surface—an open-air junk drawer. These differences in use reflect the diversity of our routines, personalities, and priorities.

My work explores these variations by deconstructing the desk as a personal space. Each piece serves as a fragmented portrait, offering clues about its user. Though the full story remains elusive, these glimpses allow viewers to imagine the life behind the desk—partially revealed, but never fully known.
